Clos du Clocher 2021 in demi format is the same Pomerol cuvée presented in a 37.5 cl half bottle, not a separate wine. It is a useful size when you want to open a serious Bordeaux without committing to a full bottle.The wine comes from the Pomerol plateau, opposite the church, from a small vineyard of around 5 hectares owned by the Bourotte-Audy family. The 2021 blend is 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc. Merlot shapes the dark fruit, while cabernet franc brings freshness, floral detail and structure, all particularly relevant in this cooler, more defined vintage.
There is careful work behind the bottle: hand harvesting and sorting, parcel-by-parcel vinification in small temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete vats, plus a small proportion of integral vinification in barrel. The wine then matured for 18 months in barriques, with additional ageing in small vats and wineglobes. The result is a Pomerol built around clarity, mineral structure and terroir expression rather than sheer weight.
