Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion 2021 is the red grand vin of this Pessac-Léognan estate on Bordeaux's Left Bank. This 37.5 cl demi-bottle is not a separate cuvée; it is the same wine in a smaller format, useful when you want to open a serious Bordeaux without committing to a full bottle.The 2021 vintage in Bordeaux was demanding, with difficult vineyard conditions and the need for careful selection. Les Carmes Haut-Brion answered that challenge with a blend led by cabernet franc: 40% cabernet franc, 35% cabernet sauvignon and 25% merlot. The grapes were hand-harvested, vinified with 45% whole bunches and handled gently, with extraction described more in terms of infusion than force.
Ageing lasted 24 months in a combination of new barriques, new foudres and terracotta amphorae.
