La Mondotte 2021 Magnum brings together the pedigree of Saint-Émilion and the presence of a 1.5 litre bottle. It is the magnum format of the same La Mondotte 2021 cuvée, from a small estate of around 4.5 hectares east of the town of Saint-Émilion. As a Premier Grand Cru Classé, it sits firmly among the serious wines of the appellation, while the 2021 vintage shows a fresher, more precise side rather than a broad, opulent one.The blend is 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc, sourced from old vines with an average age of about 60 years. Its argilo-calcareous soils, with very silty clay over rock, help frame the chalky mineral impression mentioned in the tasting notes. The estate has been organically certified since 2014. For this vintage, vinification took place in wooden vats, followed by 16 months on fine lees in barriques, half of them new.

About LA MONDOTTE
La Mondotte is a French winery located in the wine region of Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux. The estate is known as a so-called Grand Cru, a designation that within the Saint-Émilion system indicates a specific quality rank. La Mondotte has a relatively small plot of about 4.5 hectares of vineyards and is therefore a typical garagiste, a term for small-scale, artisanal producers who often combine modern techniques with a strong focus on quality and expression of terroir. The vineyards are planted with merlot and cabernet franc, grape varieties typical for the region that together produce a rich, concentrated wine profile. Since the 1990s, the estate has been managed by Stephan von Neipperg, a well-known name in Bordeaux, who has given the winery an international reputation. La Mondotte produces only a limited number of bottles each year, making the wines highly sought after by connoisseurs and collectors.
