Château La Garde Blanc 2021 is a dry white Bordeaux from Pessac-Léognan, produced at the Martillac estate that has belonged to Maison Dourthe since 1990. White wine is made here in small quantities, with around 4 hectares dedicated to white grape varieties, so this is a more limited side of Château La Garde's production.The 2021 blend is led by sauvignon blanc, with a smaller share of sémillon. That explains much of the wine's personality: sauvignon blanc brings the fresh, citrus-driven precision, while sémillon adds breadth, balance and volume. The sauvignon grown on a limestone vein is especially relevant for the wine's crisp and defined style.
The cellar work is equally careful. The grapes are harvested parcel by parcel, by hand in small crates, and protected against oxidation. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, followed by 8 months in barriques on the lees with bâtonnage. The oak influence is described as discreet rather than dominant, supporting texture without taking over the wine.

Château La Garde is a wine estate from the Bordeaux region in France, more specifically located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation within the Graves. The estate has a history dating back to the 18th century, but it gained recognition especially from the end of the 20th century when it was taken over by the French wine company Dourthe. The vineyards of Château La Garde cover about 52 hectares, the majority of which is planted with Merlot, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon and a smaller share of Petit Verdot. The soils consist mainly of gravel and clay, which contributes to a distinctive style profile for the wines from Pessac-Léognan. Château La Garde is best known for its red wine but also produces white wine in smaller quantities, made from, among others, Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. The vinification is characterized by a combination of traditional Bordeaux methods and modern techniques, with increasing attention being paid to sustainability and care for the vineyard. Thanks to this approach, the wines are known for their balance, elegance, and ability to age, typical for the character of the region.
