Fugue de Nenin 2021 is the second wine of Château Nenin in Pomerol, conceived as a more approachable reading of the estate's main wine. It is very much a Bordeaux red, but the Pomerol identity comes through clearly: the blend is led by merlot, with a small proportion of cabernet franc.The 2021 vintage is interesting because it was not built around sheer richness. After a demanding growing season, the estate describes a slow but complete phenolic ripening, followed by a strict selection for this cuvée. The fruit comes in part from clay-sandy soils and younger vines on the Pomerol plateau, elements that help explain the wine's earlier accessibility compared with the Grand Vin.
Maturation was handled with restraint, including a limited share of new oak and, according to specialised sources, a small amphora component. That suits the character of the year: more freshness and precision than opulence, with a slimmer, lively structure.

Château Nenin is a winery from the Pomerol appellation, located on the right bank of Bordeaux in France. The estate belongs to the classic producers of this region, where mainly red wines are made with a dominant share of merlot, supplemented by cabernet franc and sometimes a small amount of cabernet sauvignon. Château Nenin has a history that dates back to the nineteenth century, with a distinctive feature being that it has long been owned by families closely connected to the region. Since 1997, the estate has been owned by the Delon family, who are also known for Château Leoville Las Cases in Saint-Julien. The vineyards of Château Nenin are situated on clay and gravel soils, conditions considered particularly suitable for the typical Pomerol grapes. The winery is known for an elegant style with a refined structure and ageing potential. In addition to the grand vin, this house also produces a second wine under the name Fugue de Nenin. In the international wine world, Château Nenin is regularly appreciated for its consistently high quality, though it does not belong to the most famous names of Pomerol such as Pëtrus or Le Pin.
