Château Saint-Pierre 2021 Demi is a 37.5 cl half bottle of red Saint-Julien from the Médoc. This is the grand vin of Château Saint-Pierre, classified as a Quatrième Grand Cru Classé in 1855, presented in a smaller format without changing the identity of the wine itself. It is a practical size when a full bottle feels like too much, but the wish is still for a serious Bordeaux.The 2021 vintage shows the cooler, more classical side of Bordeaux. It was a year in which vineyard work and selection mattered, with less sunshine and more rain than in warmer vintages. Cabernet Sauvignon clearly leads the blend, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, giving the wine its Saint-Julien framework of structure, freshness and restrained depth.
Château Saint-Pierre is a relatively small classified estate in Saint-Julien, with around 17 hectares in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle. The wine was matured in barriques, and 2021 is also noted as the first vintage in which the estate entered conversion to organic viticulture.
