Flavour notes
The colour is deep garnet with purple reflections. Aromatically, it speaks clearly of the Médoc: blackcurrant, dark cherry, plum and blueberry, followed by violet, cedar, graphite, pencil shavings, tobacco and cigar box. Flint, earth and spice add a more savoury edge.On the palate it is medium-bodied, fresh and classically structured. The opening is supple and velvety, with tannins that are present yet fine-grained. Red and black fruit carry through the centre, supported by mineral and spicy notes. The finish brings back graphite, cedar, spice and a hint of dark chocolate.

Product info about Chateau Poujeaux 2021 Magnum (1,5l)
Château Poujeaux 2021 Magnum is a red Bordeaux from Moulis-en-Médoc on the Left Bank. The 1.5-litre bottle contains the estate's main wine, not a separate cuvée, so the appeal here is partly the generous format itself: a bottle made for the table, with the potential for slower development than a standard 75 cl bottle when stored correctly. The wine comes from a single 72-hectare vineyard on Günz gravel soils. Its blend is firmly rooted in the Médoc tradition, with 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. The 2021 vintage was not an easy one, marked by a wet winter, a cold spring and frost on exposed plots, yet the better-protected terroirs delivered fruit with freshness, tannin and aromatic definition.
Vinification was carried out parcel by parcel, using uncrushed berries in temperature-controlled stainless steel, wooden and concrete vats. Ageing followed for 12 months in barriques, one third of them new. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum stands out as a classic-minded Médoc: more about finesse, freshness and Cabernet character than sheer weight.
Serve it at around 16 to 18°C. Depending on the bottle and the moment, it can benefit from some air before serving. Its structure and savoury Médoc tones make it a natural match for grilled meat, red meat, white meat and cheeses. These are the final bottles of the magnum format, adding a little extra interest for anyone who enjoys Bordeaux in a larger bottle.
