Ceretto Barolo Brunate 2015 Magnum is rooted in a very precise place: Brunate, the historic vineyard lying between La Morra and Barolo. Ceretto bottles it as a single-vineyard Barolo from 100% nebbiolo, here presented in a 1.5 litre magnum, a format that suits a wine built on structure, aromatics and development.The 2015 vintage gives this wine much of its personality. It was a warm year in the Langa, though not a one-dimensional one: cool nights and a more settled late season helped preserve freshness alongside ripeness. The vintage also has significance for Ceretto, as 2015 is cited among the first organically certified Barolo crus from the estate, including Brunate.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Barolo we like to introduce with a little context. Spontaneous fermentation and maceration in stainless steel keep the vineyard voice clear, while ageing in French oak barrels followed by Austrian oak casks gives the nebbiolo shape and depth. As a magnum from a specific cru and vintage, now down to the last bottles, it has a quietly special place in the selection.
Serve it around 16 to 18 °C with dishes that can stand up to nebbiolo's structure, such as robust meat dishes or steak au poivre. The strong critical reception for this vintage fits the impression in the glass: ripe fruit, firm architecture and the aromatic finesse associated with Brunate.
