Ceretto Bricco Asili Barbaresco Bernardot 2020 is a red wine from Piemonte's Barbaresco DOCG, made entirely from Nebbiolo. Its fruit comes from a cru in Treiso, at over 400 metres altitude, in an area Ceretto describes as firm in expression without the notably austere tannins sometimes associated with comparable Barolo slopes.At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Barbaresco we like to present when someone wants Nebbiolo with a clear sense of origin. Bricco Asili refers to the Ceretto cellar where the Barbaresco wines from Asili, Bernadot and Gallina are handled, while this particular wine draws its identity from the Treiso vineyard. It is traditionally vinified and aged for two years in 25-hectolitre wooden casks and tonneaux, followed by at least six months in bottle.
The 2020 vintage is described as warm and sunny, giving ripe fruit and a gentle softness in the background, yet the wine keeps the focus and definition that make Nebbiolo so engaging. Several tasting notes point to its structure and capacity for further bottle ageing, with the wine still showing firmness in youth. Ceretto is an Italian winery from Piemonte, which has been a fixture in the landscape of high-quality Italian wine since the nineteen-sixties. The family business, founded by brothers Bruno and Marcello Ceretto, is especially known for its focus on the traditional grape varieties of the region such as Nebbiolo for Barolo and Barbaresco, but also works with other local varietals like Arneis and Barbera.
