Chateau Rauzan Segla 2021 is a red Bordeaux from Margaux, the grand vin of Château Rauzan-Ségla. As a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, it carries serious Margaux pedigree, yet the real interest of the 2021 vintage lies in its style: freshness, precision and Cabernet-driven structure rather than sheer ripeness or volume.The blend is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, with no Petit Verdot or Cabernet Franc included in the final grand vin for this vintage. That gives the wine a clearly Left Bank identity, shaped by the estate's mosaic of gravel and clay soils. Grapes were harvested by hand, sorted carefully, destemmed without crushing and vinified separately by parcel or lot before the final blend was chosen.
Maturation lasted 18 months in barriques, 60% of them new. The oak ageing frames a wine described in tasting sources for its aromatic definition, polished tannins, freshness and ageing potential. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a Margaux for drinkers who appreciate structure and refinement in a more precise, less exuberant Bordeaux vintage.
The 2021 growing season required close attention, with rain in spring and July, followed by a very dry August and first half of September. The result is a wine built on line and detail rather than excess. Only the last bottles of this reference remain.

Château Rauzan-Ségla is a respected name within the Bordeaux region, specifically in the Margaux appellation of the Médoc. This French winery has a long history dating back to the 17th century, when Pierre de Rauzan laid the foundations of the current estate. Today, Rauzan-Ségla is part of the châteaux classified as Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in the famous 1855 classification, which marks a distinctive position within the wine world. The estate has extensive vineyards with classic Margaux terroir, where mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are cultivated, often supplemented with small amounts of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
