Chateau Gruaud Larose 2021 Demi is the estate's grand vin in a 37.5 cl half-bottle format. It is a dry red Bordeaux from AOC Saint-Julien in the Médoc, classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification. The bottle is smaller, but the wine inside is the same 2021 cuvée.Cabernet sauvignon is the clear backbone here, making up 84% of the blend, with merlot and cabernet franc completing it. The 2021 growing season brought a later path to ripeness, and the château highlights freshness and tension as defining features of the year. About CH GRUAUD LAROSE
Château Gruaud Larose is a winery from the well-known Bordeaux region in France, located in the Saint-Julien appellation in the Médoc. This château belongs to the so-called Deuxièmes Crus, or the second classified growths according to the famous Bordeaux classification of 1855. Château Gruaud Larose is known for its rich history that dates back to the 18th century. The vineyards cover just over 80 hectares and are mostly planted with classic Bordeaux grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and a small proportion of Malbec. Gruaud Larose wines are often known for their powerful structure, complexity, and aging potential, which is typical for Saint-Julien. Production takes place entirely on the estate itself, from vineyard to bottling, with great attention paid to tradition and craftsmanship. In addition to the grand vin, Gruaud Larose also produces a second wine, Sarget de Gruaud Larose, made from younger vines and lots that do not make it into the main cuvée. The château has been owned by Groupe Taillan since the late 1990s, and is overseen by an experienced team that combines old traditions with modern techniques to ensure consistent quality.
