Domaine de Baron'Arques 2020 Blanc is a dry white wine from Limoux in the Languedoc, built mainly on Chardonnay with a small proportion of Chenin Blanc. It has the generosity one can associate with its southern French origin, yet the vineyards around Saint-Polycarpe sit at 250 to 350 metres, where Atlantic and Mediterranean influences meet and the nearby Pyrenees help moderate the heat.The 2020 vintage gives this wine a particularly clear identity. A wet spring was followed by a hot, dry summer, and the white grapes were picked from 24 August, the earliest white harvest in the estate's history. The fruit was brought in under good conditions, giving the wine a foundation of ripeness supported by freshness.
Eight months in French barriques shape the wine without turning it into a purely oak-driven white. New barrels, one-year-old barrels and two-year-old barrels were used in equal parts, adding texture, toast and nutty detail while leaving room for the fruit and mineral side. At Drankenshop Broekmans, that is exactly what makes this bottle interesting: it has weight and polish, but it still feels alive.
The vintage has also received strong recognition from respected tasters, who highlighted its depth, vibrant acidity and long finish. With only the last bottles remaining, it is a fine opportunity to explore a mature, gastronomic white wine from Limoux.

Domaine De Baronarques is a French winery located in the Limoux region, in the south of France. The estate, originally known as Domaine de Lambert, received its current name in 1998 when it was acquired by the Rothschild family, led by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild. The vineyard is situated in Saint-Polycarpe, at the foot of the Pyrenees, where it benefits from a unique microclimate that influences the character of the wines. The estate covers approximately 110 hectares, of which about 43 hectares are planted with vines. Domaine De Baronarques produces mainly red wines, with blends of traditional Bordeaux grapes such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, combined with local varieties like Malbec and Syrah.
