Clos Fourtet 2020 is described as concentrated, medium to full-bodied, with a deep core of ripe dark fruit: black plum, blackberry, black cherry, cassis, blueberry and dark berries. Around that fruit come notes of violets, liquorice, tobacco and cedar, with graphite, pencil shavings, crushed stone, cinnamon, clove and occasional hints of orange peel or chocolate.

On the palate, ripe fruit is matched by fresh acidity and a clear limestone or graphite-like mineral line. The tannins are ripe yet firm, described across tastings as fine-grained, powdery, silky or still youthfully assertive. The finish is long and structured. When opened young, decanting can help the wine unfold.
