Château Chasse-Spleen 2020 in magnum brings together the grand vin of the estate, the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation and the generous 1.5 litre bottle format. It is the main wine of Château Chasse-Spleen, not a second label, and the magnum presentation gives it a natural sense of occasion without needing any extra explanation.The 2020 blend is led by cabernet sauvignon and merlot, with petit verdot and cabernet franc adding further detail. The growing season began with a wet spring, followed by a fine summer that became warm towards the end of August and early September. On the estate's gravel and sandy gravel soils over clay-limestone, cabernet sauvignon remains an important part of the Médoc identity of the wine.
Stylistically, this is firmly in the left-bank Bordeaux tradition: dry, structured and dark-fruited, with tannins that support rather than dominate. Ageing in barriques adds another layer to the wine's frame.
