Chateau Capbern 2020 is a red Saint-Estèphe from Bordeaux with a clear cabernet sauvignon imprint. The blend is led by cabernet sauvignon, supported by merlot and small proportions of cabernet franc and petit verdot. That gives the wine its firm framework: dark fruit, spice and structure are very much at the centre of the style.The estate has a long-standing historical and technical link with Château Calon Ségur, yet Chateau Capbern is its own wine, not a second wine. The grapes come from vineyards in Saint-Estèphe, planted on sandy gravel, clay gravel and limestone subsoil. After hand harvesting and selection, the wine is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, then aged for 18 months in oak barriques, 60% of them new.

Château Capbern is a French winery from the Bordeaux region, located in Saint-Estèphe. This château belongs to the classic producers of this appellation and is known for its red wines made from grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Château Capbern has a tradition that is closely linked to the wine area of the left bank of the Gironde, where powerful and structured wines are central. Since 2013, the château has been owned by the Gasqueton family, who also manage the famous Château Calon Ségur. Thanks to investments and careful vinification, the quality of the wines has noticeably improved and the estate distinguishes itself within Saint-Estèphe. Capbern wines are approachable, but also develop well after a few years of bottle aging; they are appreciated for their balance between power and finesse, often with notes of dark fruit and a fine structure thanks to the typical gravel and clay soils in this part of Bordeaux.
