Chateau Leoville Poyferre 2020 is the grand vin of this Saint-Julien estate in the Médoc, a red Bordeaux with Deuxième Grand Cru Classé status in the 1855 classification. The 2020 vintage also carries a special marker: it was released in a black bottle with gold detailing to celebrate one hundred years of ownership by the Cuvelier family.Cabernet Sauvignon forms the backbone of the blend, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot adding their parts. The style described for this vintage is dry, powerful and structured, built around ripe dark fruit and firm yet refined tannins. The estate worked parcel by parcel and grape variety by grape variety, using double sorting and gentle vinification to handle that structure with precision.
