Le Dragon de Quintus 2020 is the second wine of Château Quintus in Saint-Émilion, drawn from the same mosaic of terroirs as the estate's grand vin. Its role is not simply to echo the first wine, but to show a more immediate, younger-drinking side of the domaine.The 2020 vintage was shaped by contrasts: a mild, wet winter, an early start to the growing season and then a hot, dry summer with several heatwaves. Château Quintus adjusted its vineyard work to protect the bunches and preserve aromatic freshness. The blend is strongly Merlot-led, supported by Cabernet Franc, giving the wine its ripe fruit expression, supple opening and firm underlying structure.
The name refers to the bronze dragon overlooking the estate and the valley. It gives Le Dragon de Quintus its own identity within Saint-Émilion Grand Cru: closely connected to Château Quintus, yet more open and approachable in style. About CH QUINTUS
Ch Quintus is a winery from France that is part of the renowned Saint-Émilion region in Bordeaux. The winery was added to the portfolio of Domaines Clarence Dillon in 2011, which is also the owner of the prestigious Château Haut-Brion and Château La Mission Haut-Brion. Ch Quintus was created from the merger of two former estates: Château Tertre Daugay and Château L´Arrosée, after which a third vineyard, Château Grand-Pontet, was later added to the estate. This merger resulted in a vineyard of approximately 45 hectares on a selection of limestone plateaus and slopes, typical of Saint-Émilion. The wine production focuses mainly on blends of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, characteristic for the region, with attention to precision and expression of the terroir. Ch Quintus aims to showcase the unique character of each vintage and the special microclimate of their vineyards in their wines. With limited editions and a modern approach, combined with respect for tradition, Ch Quintus offers a contemporary perspective on what the Saint-Émilion terroirs have to offer.
