Within the Campo al Mare range, Baia al Vento is the estate's Merlot expression, and the 2020 vintage is made from 100% Merlot.

The fruit comes from selected vineyards in the Bolgheri area, including a vineyard of around 7 hectares near Vallone dei Messi. The producer describes the soils as rich in minerals and iron, contributing to structure and aromatic intensity. Bolgheri's setting also matters here, with the influence of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the shelter of the Colline Metallifere shaping the local microclimate.

The 2020 growing season began with a relatively cool April and May, followed by largely warm, dry weather. Stable sunshine in August and September allowed the grapes to ripen fully. On the palate it is dry, full and concentrated, with dark fruit at the centre and chocolate-like depth around it. The tannins are present but ripe and relatively soft, while freshness keeps the wine from feeling static. Savoury, saline and spicy nuances can appear in the background, with touches of pepper, truffle, mint and a lightly animal note. The finish is persistent and firmly structured.
