Tenute del Cabreo Il Borgo 2018 is a Tuscan red with a clear Supertuscan identity. It comes from Tenute del Cabreo near Greve in Chianti and brings together Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in almost equal proportions for this vintage. That combination gives the wine its particular appeal: Tuscan in origin, yet shaped with the depth and structure associated with international grape varieties.Il Borgo has been produced since 1982, placing it among the earlier Supertuscan wines from Tuscany. The grapes are grown in the hills around Greve in Chianti, at roughly 300 metres above sea level. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with 18 days of skin contact, followed by 18 months in French barriques and further bottle ageing. The style is therefore built around ripe fruit, firm structure and measured oak influence.
