Flavour notes

The wine shows an intense garnet-red colour in the glass. Aromatically it brings ripe fruit, black cherry, plum and blackberry, followed by dried red fruit, wild flowers, mint and blood orange. Cacao, tobacco, truffle, spice and a light touch of toasted wood add darker and more savoury detail.

On the palate it is dry and structured, with ripe tannins that still have presence. Tasting notes describe a medium to full impression, silky in development yet still firm and tense. The finish is long, carrying fine oak tones, spice and a savoury edge.

Product info about Parusso Barolo Bussia Riserva Oro Vigna Munie 2013 Magnum (1,5l)

Parusso Barolo Bussia Riserva Oro Vigna Munie 2013 Magnum is a very focused expression of Barolo: a Riserva from Vigna Munie, a selected vineyard within the Bussia cru in Monforte d'Alba. Made from 100% Nebbiolo and released here in 1.5 litre format, it is produced by Parusso only in optimal vintages, giving the 2013 a clear sense of occasion.

The wine's identity is closely tied to its origin. Parusso describes Bussia as a cru with calcareous, marly white soils, and that matters for a wine presented as a single-vineyard selection from Vigna Munie. The grapes are hand-harvested in small perforated baskets, followed by gentle pressing and long maceration. Fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, and according to the producer no sulphites are used during this stage. Ageing takes place for at least 18 months in small oak casks on its own yeasts, followed by extended bottle ageing, stated by Parusso as a minimum of five years at controlled temperature.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum stands out for drinkers who appreciate Barolo with a strong sense of place and a serious ageing frame. The 2013 vintage is described as cool, with tannic tension and intact structure for further cellaring. Recognition for this release includes 96 points from Wine Advocate and 94 points from James Suckling, placing it among the more noted expressions of this Vigna Munie selection.

With a cited production of 1,893 bottles for this special selection and only limited remaining availability, this is a bottle to plan around rather than open casually. The producer's suggested pairings include roasted meat, game, truffle-based dishes and aged cheeses, all fitting companions for a structured Barolo Riserva of this style.

About PARUSSO

Parusso is an Italian wine producer from the famous Piemonte region, where winemaking has been deeply rooted in the culture for generations. The estate is located in Monforte d'Alba, a village that is recognized worldwide as the birthplace of powerful Barolo wines. Parusso focuses mainly on classic grape varieties such as Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. The winery aims for a balance between tradition and innovation, with grapes being hand-harvested and experimentation taking place in fruit selection and aging variations. The wines are often characterized by their layered complexity, aromatic finesse and a balanced structure, traits that are typical for quality wines from this region. Parusso chooses to place terroir and grape-specific characteristics at the center, with minimal intervention in the winemaking process. As a result, each wine obtains a distinct personality depending on the vineyard the grapes come from. The assortment includes various Barolo wines as well as approachable red and white wines, allowing Parusso to serve a broad audience interested in authentic Piedmontese flavors.
