Beaux Freres The Belles Soeurs Cuvée Pinot Noir 2019 is a dry red Pinot Noir from the Ribbon Ridge AVA in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Rather than focusing on a single parcel, this cuvée brings together fruit from three estate vineyards: Beaux Freres, Upper Terrace and Sequitur. The producer describes it as a hand-selected barrel reserve, built around the combined character of those estate sites.The 2019 growing season was marked by even ripening, sunny stretches, refreshing rain and cool nights. Harvest ran from 7 to 27 September. Fermentation took place with indigenous yeasts in small vats, followed by 10 months in French oak barrels, 50% of them new. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered, with total production of 1,225 cases.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Oregon Pinot Noir we like to introduce slowly: there is ripe red and dark fruit, floral lift, tea-like nuance, cacao, citrus zest and a graphite-like undertone, all supported by freshness and tannin structure. The 2019 vintage also received strong recognition from several major wine publications, with scores clustered in the mid-nineties.
As these are the last bottles, it is a fine opportunity to discover a more layered and carefully made Pinot Noir from Ribbon Ridge. It has the kind of profile that works well alongside poultry, duck, mushroom-based dishes, wine sauces or soft cheeses.
