Flavour notes

Deep ruby in colour, with an aromatic profile led by dark fruit: black cherry, blackcurrant, black plum and black raspberry, joined by vanilla, warm brioche and a cassis-like depth. The darker register is supported by savoury and earthy detail, including liquorice, clove, walnut, chocolate, tobacco, leather, cedar, underbrush and a floral hint of violet.

On the palate it is dry and full-bodied, with red cherry, graphite and fennel alongside the darker fruit. The tannins are described as ripe, polished and still grippy, giving the wine structure as well as freshness. The oak influence is integrated, and the finish carries spice, earthiness and a subtle floral echo.

Product info about Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is the estate Cabernet Sauvignon from Inglenook in Rutherford, Napa Valley. It is not the Rubicon cuvée, but a wine built around the estate's own Cabernet identity. The blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon with a small proportion of Cabernet Franc, sourced from nine separate vineyard blocks on the Inglenook Estate.

The 2019 growing season began with a wet winter and a cool spring, followed by warmer conditions in August and September. That allowed the different blocks to ripen gradually and be picked in sequence, from Cabernet Franc in Gate through to Cabernet Sauvignon in Red Barn. It gives the wine a clear estate-driven foundation while keeping the focus firmly on Rutherford Cabernet.

After 19 months in French oak, half of it new, this is a dry red wine with structure, depth and a sense of restraint behind its Napa richness. At Drankenshop Broekmans, it stands out as a serious Californian Cabernet for customers looking for provenance and ageing potential rather than simple immediacy. Available critical assessments point to a wine that benefits from bottle age, with suggested drinking windows beginning in 2024 and extending into the following decade.

Inglenook connects this Cabernet Sauvignon to the historic Cabernet tradition of the estate, founded in Rutherford in 1879. The estate also notes that it has worked organically since the 1980s and was among the first certified organic vineyards in Napa Valley in 1994.

About INGLENOOK

Inglenook is a historic wine brand from California, United States, that has its roots in the famous Napa Valley. The brand was originally founded in 1879 by the Finnish sea captain Gustave Niebaum, who with his passion for winemaking managed to establish one of the earliest quality estates in Napa. Over the years, Inglenook has had several owners, but the estate's reputation remained long associated with high-quality wines, mainly cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Since 2011, the vineyards and estate have once again been managed under the name Inglenook, after film director Francis Ford Coppola, already the owner, succeeded in reuniting both the historic name and the estate. Characteristic for Inglenook is the focus on traditional vinification techniques and the use of grapes from its own vineyards in Rutherford, an area known for its exceptional terroir. The wines of Inglenook are often distinguished by their aging potential and balanced style, which makes the brand popular among both connoisseurs and wine enthusiasts interested in the rich Napa past.
