Product info about Blason De L'evangile 2020
Blason De L'Evangile 2020 is the second wine of Château L'Evangile in Pomerol, part of Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite. It reflects the estate through a more immediately approachable lens than the grand vin, with an emphasis on suppleness and fruit.The 2020 blend is led by merlot, supported by cabernet franc and a small proportion of cabernet sauvignon. The fruit comes from sandy-clay mounds and silty sandy soils over clay, lighter parcels that the estate links to a softer, fruit-driven style. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled cement vats, with gentle pump-overs, followed by around 16 months of ageing, partly in one-year-old French oak barrels and partly in vat.
The growing season began early, moved through a wet spring and then into a dry summer, with mid-August storms helping the ripening process. Harvest was early and concentrated, with healthy grapes and optimal phenolic ripeness. That background comes through in the wine's ripe fruit, freshness and polished tannins.

Château L'Evangile is a French winery located in the famous appellation of Pomerol, part of the Bordeaux region. The estate, situated on the right bank of the Gironde river, enjoys great renown in the wine world for its elegant and deep red wines, mainly made from Merlot, often supplemented with a smaller proportion of Cabernet Franc. Château L'Evangile has a history dating back to the 18th century and is one of the established names of Pomerol, despite the fact that the region itself has no formal classification system like other parts of Bordeaux. The winery has been owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) since 1990, who are known for their meticulous viticulture and respect for tradition. The vineyards of L'Evangile lie on a characteristic subsoil of clay and sand, which contributes to the rich and refined character of their wines. Year after year, Château L'Evangile is valued for its balance, depth, and ageing potential, making it an important fixture within the selection of Pomerol wines.
