Chateau Croix De Labrie 2019 is a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru from Bordeaux's Right Bank, built around a dominant share of Merlot with a small addition of Cabernet Sauvignon. It is the estate's first wine and comes from a small Saint-Emilion property known here through a concentrated, carefully worked 2019 vintage.

The interest lies in the detail behind the wine. The fruit comes from parcels in and around Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes and below the Côte Pavie, with clay, limestone, sandy clay and iron-rich clay soils all mentioned for this vintage. Vineyard work is described as organically and biodynamically oriented, while vinification follows a parcel-by-parcel approach.

Maturation in new French oak barrels gives the wine a clearly shaped frame, supporting the ripe dark-fruited style rather than turning it into a simple oak-driven wine. With around 14,000 bottles produced for the vintage and only last bottles remaining, availability has become naturally limited.

The aromatic profile is deep and dark-fruited, with black cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry, blueberry and plum. Around that core are floral notes such as violet, together with graphite, cedar, liquorice, spice, tobacco, mocha and chocolate. Some tasting notes also mention eucalyptus or mint, adding a fresher edge to the ripe fruit.

On the palate it is full and concentrated, yet carried by freshness and tension. The tannins are described as ripe, fine-grained and structuring, with a texture often noted as silky, creamy or velvety. Oak influence appears through cedar, toast, vanilla, mocha and chocolate, but is presented in the notes as integrated.

The finish is long and fruit-driven, with spicy, graphite-like and occasionally saline accents. A dry, powerful Saint-Emilion with dark fruit, structure and clear ageing potential.
