Château Léoville Barton 2019 Magnum is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Julien, bottled here in the generous 1.5 litre format. This is the château's grand vin rather than a separate cuvée, and it carries the pedigree of a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 Médoc classification.The 2019 vintage is firmly led by Cabernet Sauvignon, with an official blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Merlot. The vineyards lie on gravelly slopes with a clay-gravel subsoil facing the Gironde, a setting that supports the wine's structured, age-worthy style described in the available tasting notes.
Everything points to a carefully built Saint-Julien: hand-harvested grapes, parcel-by-parcel vinification in temperature-controlled wooden vats, and 16 to 18 months in French oak barriques, 60% of them new.
