Product info about Baron De Brane 2017
Baron de Brane 2017 is the second wine of Château Brane-Cantenac in Margaux. It comes from the same estate context as the grand vin, but it is shaped to be more approachable earlier, with emphasis on elegant fruit rather than the firmer, longer-ageing structure of the top wine.The 2017 blend is led by merlot and cabernet sauvignon, with small additions of cabernet franc and carmenère. It spent 12 months in French oak barriques, including a proportion of new oak, adding polish and depth while keeping the wine's fruit-driven Margaux character in view.
The growing season at Brane-Cantenac was eventful, with spring frost affecting the region, although key plots on the Brane plateau and near Carabin were spared. A cooler summer helped retain freshness, giving the wine its lively side alongside its rounder texture.

Ch Brane Cantenac is a well-known wine producer from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the Margaux appellation within the Medoc. The estate carries the full name Chateau Brane-Cantenac and has a long history dating back to the 18th century. In 1855, the chateau was recognized as Deuxième Grand Cru Classé during the famous Bordeaux classification, indicating an established reputation within the region. The current owner is the Lurton family, who have managed the estate since 1925; currently, Henri Lurton is at the helm. The vineyard covers an extensive area, mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon as the primary grape, supplemented by Merlot and smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Carmenère. Brane-Cantenac is known for elegant and refined wines that are typical of Margaux, with an aromatic profile that combines fruit, flowers, and subtle wood tones.
