Product info about Cloudy Bay Chardonnay
Cloudy Bay Chardonnay shows a broader, more textured side of Marlborough. The wine brings together fruit from several vineyards, selected for the way their soils complement each other. The warmer, stony soils of the Wairau Valley contribute ripeness, while the cooler clay soils of the Southern Valleys help keep the wine poised and elegant.After gentle pressing, the juice is transferred to French oak barriques and larger vessels, followed by 11 months of maturation before blending. There is a measured use of new oak, giving the wine depth without pushing the fruit into the background. Malolactic fermentation adds roundness and texture, while the wine retains a clear line of freshness.
