Château Rieussec 2019 is the Grand Vin of the estate, a sweet white Sauternes from Bordeaux and a Premier Cru Classé in the 1855 classification of Sauternes and Barsac. The property lies between Fargues and Sauternes and has belonged to Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite since 1984.The 2019 vintage was shaped by careful selection. The humidity around the Ciron and Garonne encouraged the development of noble rot, yet the harvest demanded precision in the vineyard. Only well-botrytised grapes were chosen for the Grand Vin. The blend is 89% Sémillon, 9% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle, fermented in new oak barrels and matured for 24 months.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this Rieussec as a Sauternes for those moments when sweetness alone is not the point. It is a wine of concentration, freshness and gastronomic interest. Served well chilled, it works beautifully as an aperitif wine, with small dishes or shared starters, and it opens further as it warms slightly in the glass.
