Château Pavie 2016 Magnum is the estate's grand vin from Saint-Émilion, presented in a 1.5-litre bottle. The format is not a separate cuvée, but it gives this already serious Bordeaux a particularly impressive presence. For this vintage, Château Pavie carried Premier Grand Cru Classé A status, placing the wine firmly among the most closely followed names of Saint-Émilion.The 2016 blend is 60% merlot, 22% cabernet franc and 18% cabernet sauvignon. Its fruit comes from Château Pavie's own terroirs around Saint-Émilion, including the limestone plateau, the south-facing Côte de Pavie and the lower pied de côte with sandier and gravelly soils. The château lists the average vine age for this vintage at 48 years, a detail that fits the wine's concentrated and structured personality.
The growing season shaped the wine in a very clear way. A wet, changeable spring was followed by a long warm and dry summer, then early September rain refreshed the vineyard before a favourable autumn allowed harvest to wait until October. The grapes were picked and sorted by hand, vinified in temperature-controlled wooden vats, and aged for 24 months in oak barrels, 80% of them new.

Chateau Pavie is a leading winery from the Bordeaux region in France, located on the prestigious right bank area of Saint-Émilion. The estate has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, with winemaking activities on the hills where the Pavie vineyards are now situated. Since 2012, Chateau Pavie has been officially listed as Premier Grand Cru Classé A, the highest classification within Saint-Émilion, a status maintained by only a select few.
