Product info about Domaine De Chevalier 2016 Red
Domaine de Chevalier 2016 Rouge is the red grand vin of the estate in Léognan, within the Pessac-Léognan appellation. This is not the second wine, but the main red wine of Domaine de Chevalier, classified as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves. Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine its structural line, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot adding fruit, roundness and aromatic detail.The 2016 vintage gives this bottle much of its interest. A wet start to the year replenished water reserves, followed by an exceptionally dry summer. Rain in mid-September brought relief to the vines, and the long late season helped the grapes reach further finesse and ripeness. The estate gives an official drinking window from 2026 to 2046.
There is real precision behind the wine: hand harvesting in small crates, several stages of selection, and vinification in stainless steel, tulip-shaped concrete vats and wooden barrels. Ageing takes 16 to 20 months, with 35% new oak.
