Flavour notes
Deep red in colour with crimson reflections. The aroma centres on ripe black fruit, especially cassis, with plum, blueberry, boysenberry, black cherry and a touch of wild strawberry. Notes of lavender, spice, liquorice, mocha, vanilla, graphite, cedar and a light roasted nuance add further detail. On the palate it is dry, broad and full-bodied. The texture is soft and enveloping, with creamy, fine-grained tannins through the mid-palate. Ripe dark fruit, spice and graphite-like notes carry into a long finish without a hard edge.

Product info about Chateau Quintus 2019 Magnum (1,5l)
Château Quintus 2019 Magnum is a red Saint-Émilion Grand Cru in a 1.5-litre bottle, giving the wine a naturally more generous presence. The magnum format is not a separate cuvée; it is the grand vin of Château Quintus, part of Domaine Clarence Dillon in Saint-Émilion.The 2019 blend is made from 55.4% merlot and 44.6% cabernet franc. That substantial share of cabernet franc is one of the notable features of the vintage, especially as the estate notes that both varieties reached good ripeness in 2019. The vineyards sit on a limestone promontory on the south-western edge of the Saint-Émilion plateau, with plots spread across limestone, clay and clay-limestone soils. Warm conditions, cool nights and timely rain all form part of the story of this harvest.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this magnum as a serious Bordeaux for those who appreciate Saint-Émilion with depth, ripe dark fruit, spice and a broad structure. The wine was aged with 38.2% new barrels, adding depth while the available tasting notes point to integrated rather than forceful oak influence.
The 2019 vintage received strong recognition from Wine Advocate, James Suckling and Vinous, and a drinking window of 2025 to 2046 places it firmly in the category of age-worthy Saint-Émilion. In magnum, and with the last bottles available, it has the feel of a bottle to keep for a meaningful occasion.
