Product info about Chateau Poujeaux 2019
Château Poujeaux 2019 is a red Bordeaux from Moulis-en-Médoc and represents the estate's grand vin. The château is based on the gravel soils of Grand-Poujeaux, with 70 hectares of vineyard and vines averaging around 30 years of age. That background matters here: this is a Médoc wine shaped by its place, rather than a generic Bordeaux label.The 2019 vintage is built on cabernet sauvignon and merlot, with a small proportion of petit verdot. According to the producer, the season brought real contrasts: a mild, wet autumn and winter, a difficult spring, then a very hot and dry summer. Refreshing rain before harvest helped deliver ripe, concentrated berries while preserving balance.
In the cellar, the work was carried out parcel by parcel, with whole-berry fermentation in stainless steel, wood and concrete vats. Ageing lasted 12 months, with a measured use of new barriques. That helps explain the wine's combination of dark fruit with classic notes of cedar, tobacco, toast and cigar box, without the oak becoming the main subject.
