Product info about Chateau Citran 2019
Chateau Citran 2019 is a dry red Bordeaux from Haut-Médoc, produced at the Château Citran estate in Avensan, owned by the Merlaut family since 1996. This is the château's grand vin, built on a classic Médoc blend of 49% merlot, 43% cabernet sauvignon and 8% cabernet franc.The 2019 vintage was shaped by careful selection. The grapes came from estate vineyards with an average vine age of 35 years, grown on gravelly-sandy soils with limestone as well as clay-limestone plots. The harvest involved strict parcel selection and sorting, both in the vineyard and on the sorting table, giving the wine a sense of precision rather than simple weight.
Traditional vinification took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, cement and wooden vats. The wine then spent 15 months in oak barriques, around one third of which are renewed each year. That ageing supports the structure and aromatic depth while keeping the focus on the Médoc character: dark fruit, freshness, tannic shape and a measured, classical style.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Haut-Médoc we like to place in front of customers who enjoy Bordeaux with origin, structure and ageing potential. With the last bottles of this vintage available, it is also a wine to consider for drinking from around 2025 onwards; several sources indicate a window around 2025 to 2032, with some estimates extending further. Serve at about 17 to 18 °C with lamb, duck, beef dishes, stews or cheeses.

About CH CITRAN
Château Citran is a winery from the French Bordeaux region, specifically located in the appellation Haut-Médoc, north of the city of Bordeaux. The history of the estate dates back to the 13th century, making it one of the older wineries in the region. Over time, Château Citran has had various owners. Since the end of the twentieth century, it has been under Asian ownership, but wine production remains firmly rooted in traditional French viticulture. The estate covers about 90 hectares with a combination of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in the vineyards, which is typical for this region. The wines of Château Citran are known for their accessible style with a balance between fruitiness and fresh acidity, supported by modest oak aging. In addition to its Grand Vin, the house also produces a second wine, making it an interesting choice for both classic Bordeaux enthusiasts and those looking for approachable everyday wines.
