Herradura is a Mexican tequila brand with roots dating back to 1870. The brand is produced in Amatitán, located in the state of Jalisco, the birthplace of tequila. Herradura means horseshoe in Spanish, reportedly a reference to a horseshoe that brought luck to the founder while searching for a suitable location for the distillery. The tequila is made entirely from blue agave, and the brand is known for its traditional production methods, including roasting agave in stone ovens and using natural fermentation. Herradura was one of the first tequila brands to introduce reposado as an official aging category in the 1970s, which is now a well-established concept worldwide in the tequila industry. The brand offers, among others, blanco, reposado, añejo, and extra añejo tequilas, each with their own distinctive flavor profile.
