Olmeca is a Mexican tequila brand that is available worldwide and is produced in the state of Jalisco, the heart of the traditional tequila region. The tequila is made from the blue agave plant, an essential ingredient for authentic tequila, which is locally grown on high-altitude fields. Olmeca is under the flag of Pernod Ricard, one of the largest beverage producers in the world. Production takes place at its own distillery, where both traditional and modern methods are used. For example, part of the agave is traditionally crushed with the Tahona mill, which sets Olmeca apart within the range of tequila brands. Olmeca's assortment includes, among others, the well-known Olmeca Blanco, a clear, fresh tequila, and Olmeca Reposado, which, according to regulations, ages for at least two months on oak wood for a softer character. Through the combination of traditional knowledge, modern techniques, and availability in various types, the brand appeals to a broad audience, both for drinking pure and as a base for cocktails such as the Margarita and the Tequila Sunrise.
