Product info about Valdespino La Especiale Manzanilla 2016
Valdespino La Especiale Manzanilla 2016 is part of the vintage Manzanilla collection Valdespino began with the 2015 release. As the second release in that series, it focuses on a small group of casks selected for finesse and elegance during the first stage of biological ageing, when the flor was in full development.Its origin is especially important. The wine comes exclusively from Pago de Miraflores, described as the Grand Cru of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. For this vintage, 30 casks were sealed in line with the Sanlúcar Regulatory Council's requirements for vintage wines. From those, a selection committee chose 12 casks for their refined, intense and elegant character. They were then blended and bottled in April 2024 as a batch of 6,060 bottles.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Manzanilla we like to explain slowly: a wine shaped by place, vintage and a very deliberate cask selection. It is presented en rama, bottled directly from cask with minimal filtration to keep its organoleptic character as intact as possible. With only the last bottles remaining, the 2016 now feels like an increasingly scarce chapter in Valdespino's vintage collection.

About VALDESPINO
The first seeds of Bodegas Valdespino were sown in 1264, when Don Alfonso Valdespino received an estate in Jerez de la Frontera from King Alonso for his help in the fight against the Moors. Valdespino is now a purveyor to, among others, the Spanish and Swedish royal families. The Valdespino Manzanilla Deliciosa is crispy, delicate and fresh. The sherry has a light straw-yellow color with delicate, yeasty aromas and mineral notes. The taste is dry, fresh and crispy with a spicy, delicate finish. The Valdespino Manzanilla Deliciosa is perfect as an aperitif or paired with seafood and fish dishes. The Albariza vineyard is located in the unique Pago de Miraflores in the coastal region of Sanlucar de Barrameda. Notable is the fact that the soil contains a very high level of calcium carbonate. The grapes are organically grown and come from vines with an average age of 5 years.
