Château La Dominique 2019 is the estate's grand vin from Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, rather than the second wine. Merlot forms the heart of the blend, supported by Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard sits in the north-west of Saint-Émilion, close to the edge of Pomerol, on soils described as clay-gravel, clay-limestone and sand over clay.
The 2019 vintage carries an extra layer of meaning for the château. Since 1969, Château La Dominique has belonged to the Fayat family, making 2019 the fiftieth vintage under their ownership. The grapes were harvested entirely by hand, followed by vinification in truncated stainless-steel vats and 14 months of maturation using new barriques, one-year-old (…)Chateau La Dominique 2019 Magnum (1,5l)

Château La Dominique 2019 in magnum is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé with a clear sense of place. The estate sits in the north-western part of Saint-Émilion, close to the border with Pomerol, and that position is reflected in a wine built around ripe depth, structure and polish.
The 2019 blend is led by merlot, with cabernet franc and a small proportion of cabernet sauvignon. The grapes were harvested entirely by hand, and the wine spent 14 months in a mix that included new oak barriques, one-year-old barriques and a small share of alternative vessels such as amphora and a vegetal polymer egg. It is a very Bordeaux approach, but with an eye for detail in texture and refinement.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum stands out as (…)Chateau La Dominique 2020

Chateau La Dominique 2020 is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Emilion Grand Cru and the grand vin of Château La Dominique. Its setting says a great deal about the wine: the estate lies in the north-west of Saint-Emilion, close to the edge of Pomerol, in a highly regarded part of the appellation.
The 2020 vintage is led by Merlot, with Cabernet Franc and a small share of Cabernet Sauvignon in support. The grapes come from 25 hectares of vineyards on clay, limestone, gravel and sand over clay, and were harvested entirely by hand. Ageing lasted 14 months, mainly in barriques, with a small proportion also raised in vessels such as amphora and wine globe.
Its appeal lies in the meeting of ripe dark fruit, freshness and firm yet polished tannins. The available (…)Chateau La Dominique 2021

Chateau La Dominique 2021

Château La Dominique 2021 is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé from Bordeaux's Right Bank, produced in the north-western part of Saint-Émilion near the edge of Pomerol. The blend reflects that setting clearly: Merlot takes the lead, with Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon adding support.
The château describes 2021 as a demanding vintage, marked by hail and mildew pressure. What makes the wine interesting is that it has not been shaped as a heavy, forceful Saint-Émilion, but rather as a fresher, more refined interpretation with a supple fruit expression. The grapes were hand-harvested, and the wine spent 14 months in maturation, including new barriques, one-year-old barriques and a small share of alternative (…)Chateau La Dominique 2022

The 2022 blend is driven by merlot, which makes up 88%, supported by cabernet franc and a small amount of cabernet sauvignon. A hot, dry growing season brought ripeness and concentration, while the tasting notes still point to freshness, structure and polished tannins. Relais de La Dominique 2020 is the second wine of Château La Dominique, an estate in the north-west of Saint-Émilion, close to the border with Pomerol. For this vintage the wine is made entirely from Merlot, giving it a clearly fruit-led Bordeaux character with roundness, ripe tannins and an approachable feel.
Its background is very much rooted in the estate. The vines, averaging 30 years of age, grow on clay-gravel, clay-limestone and sandy soils over clay. The Merlot was harvested by hand between 10 and 23 September 2020, followed by 14 months of ageing, mainly in vats with a smaller proportion in once-used barrels.
