Château Potensac 2022 Magnum is a red Bordeaux from the AOC Médoc, produced by the Delon family estate near Ordonnac, north of Saint-Estèphe. The 1.5-litre magnum is not a separate cuvée, but the estate's grand vin in a larger format, giving this Médoc a little more presence when opened for the table or kept for further ageing.The 2022 vintage was warm and dry, producing small, concentrated berries that the estate describes as retaining freshness. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a small share of Petit Verdot. The result is very much in the Potensac idiom: structured Médoc, dark-fruited, savoury and firm, rather than a wine built around overt sweetness.
Potensac's vineyards sit on clay and gravel ridges with a limestone subsoil, a setting the estate links to drainage, concentration and natural freshness. Traditional vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats is followed by twelve months in barriques, including a proportion of new oak.
