Pagodes de Cos Blanc 2022 is a dry white Bordeaux from Château Cos d'Estournel, the Saint-Estèphe estate in the Médoc. Within the estate's white wine programme, Pagodes de Cos Blanc is the second white wine, first produced with the 2018 vintage, and its name refers to the distinctive pagodas of Cos d'Estournel.The 2022 blend is 57% Sauvignon Blanc and 43% Sémillon. That combination gives the wine its shape: Sauvignon Blanc brings freshness, drive and precision, while Sémillon adds roundness and a little more breadth. The fruit comes from vines also used for Cos d'Estournel Blanc, with the oldest vines for this vintage reaching 37 years of age.
A key detail here is that the 2022 vintage is listed with 0% new barriques. In other words, the wine is not built around overt new oak. Cos D'Estournel is a winery from the French Bordeaux region, more specifically from the appellation Saint-Estèphe in the Médoc. The estate, which dates back to the early 19th century, is named after the founder Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, who developed the vineyard on the Cos hill into a distinctive wine estate. Cos D'Estournel is widely recognized as a Deuxième Cru Classé (Second Growth) according to the historical classification of 1855.
