Château Cantenac Brown 2022 in magnum is a firmly structured Margaux with a clear Cabernet Sauvignon identity. This is the estate's grand vin, from a château classified as a Troisième Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification, bottled here in the 1.5-litre format. The magnum does not change the wine itself, but it does give this release extra presence and a strong cellaring feel.The 2022 vintage at Cantenac Brown was shaped by heat and limited water reserves. In the vineyard, the team responded with lighter leaf removal, shallow soil work and controlled cover cropping to manage the vines carefully. The final blend is 69% Cabernet Sauvignon and 31% Merlot, with the Cabernet Sauvignon described by the producer as concentrated and energetic, while the Merlot brings density and structure.
In the cellar, the approach remained measured: lower fermentation temperatures and gentle extraction were used to preserve the phenolic potential of the grapes. Maturation took place in French oak barriques, 60% new and 40% one-year-old. The result is a dry red Bordeaux that brings together ripe dark fruit, floral detail, spice, graphite-like minerality and a firm tannic frame.

Ch Cantenac Brown is a wine estate from the Bordeaux region and is located in the Margaux appellation, which is known for elegant and refined red wines based on cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc. The estate was originally founded in the early 19th century by John Lewis Brown, of Scottish origin, and was classified in 1855 as a Troisième Cru during the famous classification of the wines from the Medoc. The chateau is remarkable for its English Tudor-style architecture, which is quite unique in Bordeaux. Ch Cantenac Brown owns about 48 hectares of vineyard with mainly clay and gravel soils, which are favorable for the ripening of the grapes and the character of the wine. The wine estate has changed ownership several times over the years, but currently it belongs to a private investor who focuses on quality and sustainability. The wines from this estate are often known for their structure, fine balance and their potential to age. Ch Cantenac Brown works with respect for nature, including through sustainable vineyard practices.
