Château de Camensac 2022 in magnum is a proper Haut-Médoc bottle: structured, Cabernet-led and built around the quiet authority of a classified Bordeaux estate. This is the grand vin of Château de Camensac, a 5ème Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, produced within the Haut-Médoc AOP.The estate is located in Saint-Laurent-Médoc, close to the edge of Saint-Julien. Its vineyard covers around 75 hectares in production and is divided into many individual plots, an important detail for a wine shaped by selection. The 2022 blend is 59% Cabernet Sauvignon and 41% Merlot, with the Cabernet clearly setting the tone. Deep gravel, sandy clay and sandy gravel soils help frame the wine's Médoc identity: firm fruit, structure and a mineral line.
Ageing in barriques, partly new, adds polish and depth while leaving the vintage's fruit expression intact. The 2022 is described with lively fruit, ripe yet present tannins and a savoury finish. Château de Camensac is a historic winery from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the appellation Haut-Médoc. The castle and vineyards have a long tradition dating back to the 18th century, but the estate gained international fame when it was included in the famous 1855 classification of the Grand Cru Classés, where it received the status of Cinquième Cru (Fifth Group). The vineyards of Château de Camensac cover about 75 hectares, featuring mainly cabernet sauvignon and merlot as grape varieties, and the viticulture takes place on typical gravel soils that are characteristic for the region. The style of the wines is known for their freshness, structure and aging potential, contemporary with a classic Bordeaux signature. Château de Camensac is nowadays managed by the Merlaut family, who work together with a dedicated team of winemakers.
