Blanc de Chasse-Spleen 2022 is the dry white wine from Château Chasse-Spleen in Moulis-en-Médoc, Bordeaux. Although it comes from the Médoc, it is released as AOC Bordeaux Blanc, as white wines from this area do not fall under a Médoc appellation.The 2022 blend is 50% Sémillon, 40% Sauvignon blanc and 10% Muscadelle, sourced from a small 3.5-hectare white planting on sandy-clay soils. That gives the wine a very Bordeaux-like balance of freshness, tension and gentle roundness, with Sémillon bringing texture and Sauvignon blanc keeping the profile lively.
Fermentation took place in concrete vats and barriques, followed by 9 months of ageing with a portion of new and one-year-old barrels. The oak presence is described as present but restrained, adding smoky and lightly vanilla-toned details rather than taking over the fruit and floral side of the wine.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of white Bordeaux we like to point out to customers who want something with origin, structure and a story behind it. Production was limited to around 1,000 cases, and with only the last bottles of this vintage remaining, it has become a particularly interesting release from a château better known for its red wines.

Chasse Spleen is a wine brand originating from the Bordeaux region of France, more specifically from the appellation Moulis-en-Médoc in the wine region Médoc. The estate has existed since the 19th century and is especially known among wine lovers for its red wines, which are often traditionally composed with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and sometimes a small amount of Petit Verdot or Cabernet Franc. The name of the winery, which can be freely translated as drive away the gloom, is reportedly a reference to the poet Charles Baudelaire and his most famous work Les Fleurs du mal, but there are different stories about this.
