L'Aventure Cote A Cote 2021 is a dry red wine from Paso Robles, shaped as a Southern Rhône-inspired blend with a distinctly Californian setting. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre are present in near-equal proportions, with Grenache just taking the lead, so the wine is less about one dominant grape and more about the meeting point of ripe fruit, savoury spice and structure.The fruit comes from L'Aventure's own vineyard in the Willow Creek District, on the western side of Paso Robles. The reported yields for this vintage are very low, matching the concentrated style described in the tasting notes. Ageing took place over 16 months in a combination of French oak, concrete and amphora, and the producer notes that the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
L'Aventure was founded by Stephan Asseo, a French winemaker with a Bordeaux background who settled in Paso Robles in 1998. Cote A Cote shows the freedom behind that move: Rhône varieties, estate-grown Californian fruit and a maturation approach that brings texture without letting oak define the whole wine.

L'Aventure is a wine brand from the United States with roots in the Paso Robles region, Californiâ. The estate was founded in 1998 by the French winemaker Stephan Asseo, who, after years of experience in Bordeaux, decided to realize his own vision of winemaking in Californiâ. The vineyards are located in the western part of Paso Robles, an area known for its calcareous soils and distinctive Mediterranean climate. L'Aventure is especially known for its blends of Bordeaux and Rhône grape varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Petit Verdot.
