Prats & Symington Chryseia 2023 is a dry red Douro DOC wine from Portugal and the flagship wine of the partnership between the Symington family of the Douro and the Prats family of Bordeaux. It is built from a strict selection of grapes from Quinta de Roriz and Quinta da Perdiz, with additional parcels from Quinta da Vila Velha.The 2023 vintage had an especially favourable rhythm. Winter rain restored water reserves after the severe drought of 2022, while the growing season allowed gradual ripening and strong phenolic development. That background helps explain the style of the wine: Douro depth, but with freshness, definition and controlled power.
The blend is 72% Touriga Nacional and 28% Touriga Franca. Maturation took place over 15 months in 400-litre French oak barrels, adding structure and complexity while keeping the oak influence restrained.
