The 1.5 litre bottle feels naturally suited to sharing, yet the wine itself remains measured, fresh and classically Bordeaux in tone. It comes from the Right Bank of Bordeaux and is made from Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. For the 2021 vintage, the stated blend is 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. The vineyard is described as roughly 15 hectares on the western part of the Pomerol plateau, with vines averaging around 35 years of age. Gravel, sand and clay or iron-rich subsoil all form part of the Clos Rene setting.

The 2021 vintage is described in the available tasting notes as medium-bodied, relatively fresh and more linear than some riper years. Eighteen months of ageing in oak barrels, partly new, bring cedar, coffee, toast and lightly smoky accents, while the wine's red fruit and herbal side remain central.

On the palate it is medium-bodied and fresh, shaped by fine to powdery tannins and a fairly linear structure. The fruit feels more red and lively than dense or overripe, with herbs and restrained oak notes adding definition. The finish is fresh and lightly savoury, with red fruit, subtle spice and a leaner, drier Bordeaux feel.
