Chateau Nenin 2021 is the Grand Vin of Chateau Nenin, from Pomerol on Bordeaux's right bank. It is led by Merlot and supported by a significant proportion of Cabernet Franc, a combination that shapes the wine's identity: depth and velvet from the Merlot, freshness, floral lift and graphite-like definition from the Cabernet Franc.The fruit comes from the estate's best plots on the Pomerol plateau, where gravel, clay and iron-rich soils form part of the wine's background. The 2021 growing season was described as complex and called for strict selection. That gives this vintage a more precise and fresh Pomerol character rather than an overly broad or heavy one.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we would present this as a wine for patient Bordeaux drinkers: still youthful, intended for cellaring, and often suggested for drinking from around 2026 onward. About CH NENIN
Château Nenin is a winery from the Pomerol appellation, located on the right bank of Bordeaux in France. The estate belongs to the classic producers of this region, where mainly red wines are made with a dominant share of merlot, supplemented by cabernet franc and sometimes a small amount of cabernet sauvignon. Château Nenin has a history that dates back to the nineteenth century, with a distinctive feature being that it has long been owned by families closely connected to the region. Since 1997, the estate has been owned by the Delon family, who are also known for Château Leoville Las Cases in Saint-Julien. The vineyards of Château Nenin are situated on clay and gravel soils, conditions considered particularly suitable for the typical Pomerol grapes. The winery is known for an elegant style with a refined structure and ageing potential. In addition to the grand vin, this house also produces a second wine under the name Fugue de Nenin. In the international wine world, Château Nenin is regularly appreciated for its consistently high quality, though it does not belong to the most famous names of Pomerol such as Pëtrus or Le Pin. Still, enthusiasts value the wines of Château Nenin for their characteristic balance and reliability.
