Château Montlandrie 2021 is a red Bordeaux from Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux, on the Right Bank to the east of Saint-Émilion. At Drankenshop Broekmans, it is the sort of bottle we like to introduce when someone is looking for Bordeaux with structure, freshness and a clear limestone-driven identity.The estate belongs to the Durantou family. Denis Durantou purchased Château Montlandrie in 2009, and after his passing in 2020 the work has been continued by his daughters, Noémie and Constance. That background gives the wine a sense of place and direction: this is Castillon with a defined house perspective rather than a generic Bordeaux label.
The 2021 blend is 75% merlot, 20% cabernet franc and 5% cabernet sauvignon, grown on limestone and clay-limestone soils. Maturation includes 50% new oak, yet the tasting descriptions point more strongly toward tension, dark fruit, refined tannins and a mineral, lightly saline finish. With 14% alcohol, it has presence without losing the focused freshness associated with this vintage.
These are the last bottles, making the 2021 a worthwhile choice for drinkers who appreciate Bordeaux with ageing potential. Suggested pairings include meat dishes, pork and mature cheeses, served around 18 to 20 °C and, if desired, decanted for about an hour.

Château Montlandrie is a French winery located in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux region, east of the famous Saint-Émilion. This relatively young château, situated on limestone-rich hills, was purchased in 2009 by Denis Durantou, who gained international acclaim for his work at Château L'Eglise Clinet in Pomerol. Montlandrie was revitalized under his leadership, with a clear focus on terroir and quality. The vineyards are planted mainly with Merlot, supplemented by Cabernet Franc and sometimes a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. Thanks to its hillside location, Montlandrie has a unique, fresh signature that distinguishes it within the appellation, with wines often praised for their balance between fruit, structure and elegance.
