II du Château Saint-Pierre 2021 is a red Pomerol from Bordeaux and the second wine of Château Saint-Pierre in Pomerol. That distinction matters, as this is the Pomerol estate and not Château Saint-Pierre from Saint-Julien. The wine is Merlot-led, with Cabernet Franc completing the blend, giving it the dry red Bordeaux profile centred on ripe fruit and a rounded texture.The estate works with parcel-based vinification and selection, separating this second wine from the grand vin. Its Pomerol origin is rooted in sandy and gravelly soils with crasse de fer, the iron-rich subsoil found in parts of the appellation. Temperature-controlled vinification is followed by maturation in oak barrels, with around 18 months of oak ageing mentioned for the wines of Château Saint-Pierre.
