Domaine Maurice et Anne-Marie Chapuis Savigny-Les-Beaune 2020 is a red Burgundy from the Côte de Beaune, made from 100% Pinot Noir. Savigny-lès-Beaune lies between the Montagne de Corton and Beaune, around the Rhoin valley, and this cuvée is linked to deep clay soils on gently sloping sites. It is very much a wine of place: fruit-led, but with enough depth and shape to feel grounded rather than delicate for its own sake.Domaine Chapuis is based in Aloxe-Corton and works across appellations including Aloxe-Corton, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Chorey-lès-Beaune, Corton and Corton-Charlemagne. For this Savigny-lès-Beaune, a 1.15-hectare vineyard area is mentioned, at roughly 250 to 350 metres altitude. The grapes are harvested by hand and the wine is aged in French oak barrels, with only a modest proportion of new oak in the usual approach. That keeps the focus on Pinot Noir and Burgundy origin rather than on overt wood influence.
The 2020 vintage in Burgundy was early, warm and dry, yet the grapes retained good acidity. That vintage context fits the wine's profile: ripe red fruit, a savoury undertone and a structure that has presence without becoming heavy.
