Product info about Quinta Da Fonte Souto Florao White 2023
Quinta da Fonte Souto Florao White 2023 brings forward a cooler, fresher expression of Portugal's Alentejo. It comes from Portalegre, close to the Serra de São Mamede, where the estate vineyards sit at roughly 490 to 550 metres above sea level. That altitude and the cooler, more humid microclimate help explain the wine's emphasis on freshness, aromatic clarity and structure.The estate is owned by Symington Family Estates and is their first property outside the Douro. Fonte Souto is set among vineyards, woodland and chestnut trees, with schist and granite soils forming part of the character of the quinta. The 2023 wine is made from 80% Arinto and 20% Verdelho, grown on the estate's own vineyards. Fermentation and ageing took place in stainless steel at low temperature, with no oak ageing mentioned, keeping the fruit and the youthful profile in focus.
Within the Fonte Souto range, the Florão wines are positioned as the more accessible, earlier-drinking wines of the estate. The 2023 harvest started exceptionally early at the estate, following a wet winter and a very sunny spring.
